Our Founder

Believe Apparel was founded by Sydney Lavarnway — a two-time Team USA member, former national champion, and two-time national silver medalist in karate. She earned her black belt in traditional Shotokan karate at just 12 years old and has been competing at the highest level ever since.

From years of training and competition, Sydney knows that hard work and belief in yourself are the keys to becoming a champion. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, she trains almost daily while traveling the world to compete internationally, constantly striving to improve her skills and knowledge.

Her journey reflects the values she lives by: discipline, resilience, and confidence. Sydney’s vision for Believe Apparel is to share those values with others — especially female athletes — by reminding them that belief in themselves can carry them through challenges and drive them toward success.
